St John’s Scouts and Guides have brought adventure to the young people of Hillfields and Chester Park in Fishponds throughout the years since 1915. These are just some of the adventures young people have taken advantage of thanks to Scouting which is also very affordable thanks to the 650,000 scouting members and adult volunteers across the UK.
Mountain leadership, canoeing, Kayaking, Ten Tors, survival weekends, abseiling, hiking, orienteering, Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, Scouting and Guiding Awards, caving, potholing, team building, camping and camping skills, Jamborees including World Jamborees, tracking, sailing, outdoor cooking, fundraising, festivals, carnivals, residential holidays both in the UK and overseas, cycling, expeditions, training, entertaining, quartermaster skills, community fairs and events, surfing, archery, shooting, river challenges, sea fishing, scrambling, first aid and security of steep ground, lifesaving, map reading, pioneering, visiting workplaces past and present, talks, quizzes, photography, day trips, climbing, competitions and so much more.  Joining Scouts and Guides is life changing for young people, they have done so much and so many times before they reach the age of 18.
